The role of palliative and ablative radiotherapy for spinal metastases

About Speaker:
Dr. Gregory Gan is a Translational Physician Scientist and Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr Gan is certified by the American Board of Radiology with a sub-certification in radiation oncology. He graduated medical school with honors from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his residency and research fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz Cancer Center. Dr. Gan's research focuses on epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition and how it regulates development of cancer stem cells, tumor metastasis, the tumor microenvironment and therapeutic resistance. His long-term research goal is to better understand the molecular drivers responsible for cancer metastasis as well as develop novel therapeutics targeting the MAPK and/or PI3K pathways in order to enhance tumor sensitivity to radiation and systemic therapy.
