Brain Tumor Surgery Lab (BTSL)

The Pakistan Society of Neuro-Oncology (PASNO), Pakistan Academy of Neurological Surgery (PANS) and the Department of Surgery, Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan is organizing a pre-conference workshop on Brain Tumor Surgery Lab on September 3 – 4, 2022, in collaboration with Technology Innovation Support Center. Venue of this workshop is Anatomy and Surgery Learning Studio (ASLS) at the Aga Khan University, Karachi.
Essentials feature of this workshop are demonstration of microsurgical techniques, hands-on practice on animal brains and 3D printed skulls and lectures by national and international experts. In this event, participants will practice different craniotomies on 3D models, removing artificial brain tumors using microsurgical techniques while utilizing microscopes, loupes, suction device, and ultrasonic aspirator on animal brains.
Call for Manuscripts and Abstracts
The scientific committee comprising of neuro-oncologists experts will evaluate the manuscripts and abstracts, The top few abstracts will be offered an opportunity for an oral presentation.
Abstract Content
Abstracts should be 250 to 300 words or less and must briefly state the hypothesis of the study, describe the materials/methods used, report the results, as well as the statistical treatment accorded the data and summarize the research findings. The summary should not be a traditional ‘discussion’ but rather a prioritized, bulleted statement that indicate the study’s significance, value and clinical relevance in relation to the existing knowledge on the topic. Abstracts may include up to two graphic attachments (i.e. tables, illustrations and pictures). Abstracts will be selected for oral and poster presentation after a thorough review by scientific committee.
Manuscript Content
Contributions are invited for the JPMA Special Supplement to accompany the 3ANOS. Original articles, short reports and review articles with the theme of Neuro-Oncology are encouraged. Kindly restrict your manuscripts to <2500 words and 3 tables & figures. All submissions will undergo a rigorous review process with 2 reviewers, statistical & bibliography review.
